You’re living your best life. A fulfilling job. A family. A thriving future. And then. Cancer. 

 

It’s like a bomb goes off in your world. What would you do? What can you do? Your life goes dark. Your emotions go dark. Mental health challenges seep in and depression takes over. Drugs and alcohol may numb the pain, but they dilute your ability to rally back. But there’s hope.

 

My name is Ken Wells, and I’ve been there. I’m fighting my way back from stage 4 cancer, and I want to help others do the same in their own personal battles with this devastating disease. Cancer rocked my life. But it also reshaped my perspective on living and fueled a new purpose: to help others facing a cancer diagnosis not only survive, but thrive. 

 

But I can’t do it on my own. I need your help. 

 

That’s why I established a fund at Collaboratory, our local community foundation. I call it the “Ken Wells The War On Cancer Fund” because, I can tell you, your body goes to war. The fund’s mission is to support those fighting personal wars against cancer and mental illness on their journey to self-discovery through the healing power of music.

 

Since my diagnosis, making music has provided a much-needed outlet. A place where I can express what I’m going through, with the hope that others will see that they are not alone with their cancer struggle. I’ve written a series of songs for music videos, each of which I think of as a chapter in a musical book. A story that represents the various stages of personal turmoil ignited by cancer amid the other emotional challenges everyday life can bring. The story ultimately celebrates hope, resilience, and determination.
